The Auto Club Group Foundation kicked off our partnership with SafeKids Worldwide on May 16th in Plant City, Florida with a booster seat distribution event. Through a significant traffic safety grant, several SafeKids Coalitions will educate families and provide car seats, booster seats and bike helmets to those that may not have access otherwise. The campaign will continue throughout the year, with events in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Michigan. These events will specifically target underserved communities with education, equipment and resources.
“We are excited to partner with SafeKids Worldwide to provide education and resources to families and children that need it most, whether it’s using the right car seat, teaching kids the ‘rules of the road’ when biking, or distributing helmets and child safety seats,” said Matt Nasworthy, Executive Director for the ACG Foundation.
Road injuries are a leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States. The best way to keep a child safe in the car is to use the right car seat in the right way. Correctly used car seats, booster seats and seat belts can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71%. Yet more than half of car seats are not used or installed correctly. The ACG Foundation's grant and partnership with SafeKids works to address this issue.
